Website design for a boutique interior design studio
A creative passion project
This is a concept project built to showcase our approach to website design for interior designers and creative service providers.
Meet Cara Santino β a Chicago-based interior designer three years into running her own boutique studio. She specializes in sustainable residential design for modern, busy families, and her local clients love her for it. But her current website doesn't come close to telling that story. Cara knows her work speaks for itself in person; she just needs a digital presence that does the same.
This concept explores what a brand-aligned, elevated web presence might look like for an interior designer at exactly this stage: established enough to have a clear niche, ambitious enough to want more.
PROJECT DETAILS
The Challenge
This passion project includes a familiar set of frustrations β ones we hear often from talented creative service providers who are long overdue for a website that works as hard as they do.
Cara was pouring time into email enquiries and social media with little to show for it, and the constant hustle was bleeding into her family life. She wanted her business to feel sustainable β not just in the materials she specified for clients, but in the way it operated day to day.
Her original website had done its job when she first launched, but it had quietly become a ceiling rather than a launchpad. She knew something needed to change; she just didn't know where to start. The tech felt overwhelming, and the idea of rebuilding from scratch felt like one more thing on an already full plate.
The real goal wasn't just a prettier website. It was a smarter one β something that could quietly handle the admin burden, communicate her expertise clearly, and start attracting better-fit clients willing to invest at a higher level. Clients who would value not just the furniture she sourced, but the thinking, the process, and the lifestyle she was helping them build.
Here, we explore how strategic web design can solve real operational problems for a business owner β not just make things look good, but make things work better.
REINVEST IN YOUR BUSINESS
Cara was ready to start commanding higher fees for her work. She knew it was time to take that next step and reinvest in her business by creating a high-end website that strengthens her brand, streamlines her processes, and attracts premium clients.
Weβve been thereβ¦ and we were ready to help!
This section outlines the strategic and design decisions behind the concept β and reflects how we approach website projects for creative service providers more broadly.
Website Strategy
Every project starts with strategy. Before any design decisions were made, we audited Cara's imagined website to identify what was working, what was missing, and where the biggest opportunities lived. Four priorities shaped everything that followed.
Highlight the most profitable and enjoyable services
Curate projects to attract desired clientele
Create features and automations to save time
Improve user journey and conversion
Website Design
Highlight the most profitable and enjoyable services
Not all services are created equal. For Cara's concept, we identified the offerings most likely to attract premium, aligned clients β and built her services page around those. Each service description was written with intention, weaving in language that speaks directly to sustainable design and modern family living. Where possible, services were linked directly to relevant portfolio projects, so a potential client could move seamlessly from "what she offers" to "what that actually looks like."
Curate projects to attract desired clientele
The three sample projects featured on this site weren't chosen at random. Each one was selected to reflect a specific design aesthetic and a specific type of client β the kind of client Cara would genuinely want more of. The project write-ups go beyond surface-level descriptions, touching on the challenges, the process, and the outcomes that speak to her strengths as a sustainable residential designer.
Create features and automations to save time
One of the most meaningful things a well-designed website can do for a solo business owner is quietly handle the admin. For Cara's concept, we designed a comprehensive intake form with budget ranges and project expectations built in β the kind of form that filters out mismatched enquiries before they ever hit an inbox. In a real implementation, this would connect to a CRM and trigger automated responses, freeing up hours every week and helping Cara focus on high-value leads rather than polite dead ends.
Improve user Journey and conversion
A beautiful website that doesn't convert is just an expensive brochure. The user journey across this concept was designed with conversion in mind at every step β simplified navigation, clear and confident calls-to-action, and messaging that builds trust progressively as a visitor moves through the site. The goal is for the right client to land on this site and feel, almost immediately, that they've found exactly who they were looking for.
The Results
An elevated brand presence that became a strategic business tool β driving more profitable, better-fit projects to support steady, sustainable growth for her studio.
In a real engagement, this is where the numbers live β the before and after, the client testimonial, the "we're fully booked" email. For a concept project, the result is something a little different: a demonstration of what's possible when strategy and design work together.
What this concept set out to prove is that a well-built website isn't just a digital business card β it's a business tool. For a designer like Cara, the right online presence could mean the difference between fielding low-budget enquiries at all hours and waking up to a pipeline of aligned, high-value clients who already believe in what she does before they ever hit "send."
The outcomes this concept project was designed to deliver:
β Stronger lead quality β fewer mismatches, more momentum
β An elevated aesthetic that earns trust at first glance
β A service offering that signals expertise and attracts bigger-budget projects
β A quieter inbox and more evenings actually off the clock
Taken together, the goal was a brand presence that feels as considered and intentional as the interiors Cara designs β one that works in the background so she doesn't have to.
